Dear Brothers and Sisters

Jai Shri Mataji!

The LETA / LEPA Trustee-Directors wish to thank all the much appreciated volunteers who assist in the often unseen work required for Sahaja Yoga Meditation Australia to function and comply with legislation, manage our finances, care for and maintain our properties, manage Mother's Love childcare, run programs directly to the public and on-line, conducting country tours, providing Music of Joy, arranging insurance, manage our extensive communications, helping to arrange and provide our Collective programs, Pujas and other celebrations as such joyous events, and the many other areas which enhance our experiences as members of Sahaja Yoga and HH Shri Mataji's children.

The Trustee-Directors particularly want to offer our appreciation and thanks to our past Trustees, and present and past Councillors and volunteers around the country who give their time, dedication and energy to the welfare, spiritual growth and enjoyment of our Collective, and sharing the gift of HH Shri Mataji's Sahaja Yoga with the world. We particularly thank those Australian Sahaja Yogis whom Mother chose to personally attended Her in the later years.

You may wish to visit our Policies page to get an idea of the range of legislative requirements the Trustee-Directors and we all as Sahaja Yogis are responsible for.

Through this website and a more regular keeping in touch we hope to give everyone a better understanding of the Trustee-Director roles and obligations and our personal liability on behalf of the Collective.  We welcome any questions or inquiries to our email: life.eternal.trust.australia@gmail.com

We pray that HH Shri Mataji showers everyone in Her Divine blessings and holds us all together in Her Heart full of love and joy.

Our love and very best wishes to all brothers and sisters.

What is LETA?

Life Eternal Trust Australia (LETA) was personally created  by Her Holiness Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1986 as the "Overall administrative body to administer and promote Sahaja Yoga in Australia".  Shri Mataji was involved with the drafting and approval of the LETA Trust Deed and She reviewed and signed the Trust Deed of Life Eternal Trust Australia.   LETA is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. (ACNC).  (More information on LETA)

What is LEPA?

Trusts cannot own properties in Australia, and to remove the possibility of anyone making a claim on our properties legal advice led to the creation of Life Eternal Properties Australia Pty Ltd  (LEPA) being set up as a property holding company for the Trust, and since 1997 the Titles of all Sahaja Yoga properties purchased on behalf of the Collective are held by a company, (LEPA) as corporate Trustee on behalf of the Collective by Life Eternal Trust Australia.  This arrangement removes any direct ownership or access to the properties by the Trustee-Directors and protects the tenure of the properties for the Collective into the future.  The Trustee-Directors were also able to negotiate substantial savings on Stamp Duty.  (More information on LEPA)

Tribute to Brian O'Gorman

Jai Shri Mataji!

We offer this tribute to Brian O’Gorman, our dear, much loved and respected uncle and brother in Sahaja Yoga, one of the original Trustees of Life Eternal Trust Australia.

Uncle Brian was selected and appointed by Shri Mataji as one of the original Trustees for Life Eternal Trust Australia (LETA). He served Shri Mataji, Sahaja Yoga, and LETA with great distinction. He was a man well established in his life when he came to Sahaja Yoga. Although elder than many of us in the collective at that time, there was a special affinity he shared with us due to his wisdom, compassion and natural role as a mentor.

As an original member of the Trust, in 1987 he was instrumental in supporting the means by which the first property in Australia was collectively purchased; Shri Mataji’s home at 10 Clarence St., Burwood. Shri Mataji reflected that this was one of the first occasions where a local collective made a landmark purchase of a property for Sahaja Yoga. Uncle Brian was also fundamentally important in bringing about structural changes which helped ensure collective properties are held in perpetuity for future use by Sahaja Yoga.

Parental Responsibility Policy

LETA have provided a new Policy regarding Parental Responsibilty.

Parents play a vital role in safeguarding their children’s rights and welfare, ensuring their safety, and exercising the legal authority to make decisions regarding their day-today care, development, and overall well-being, in line with their duty of care referred to as ‘parental responsibility.’

LETA acknowledges the importance of children’s involvement in events held at Collective properties or hired venues and aims to support families by providing suitable facilities in an appropriate environment. As an additional safeguard, we require all adults involved to possess Working With Children Check approvals.

While endeavoring to create spiritually conducive environments, we also respect the need for Sahaja Yogis attending to have spaces for quiet meditation and reflection.

In this context, the Trustees of LETA respectfully urge all parents to recognize and fulfill their responsibility to ensure their children are under their constant supervision, ensuring their safety, well-being, and preventing any disruptive behavior.    It’s crucial not to assume that others will automatically take on this role.

Please see the full PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY     HERE

Public Liability Insurance for public programs and events

We want to sincerely thank all those Sahaja Yogis giving their time and attention to running programs and organising or participating in events to reach Shri Mataji's seekers so they may discover Her gift of Sahaja Yoga.   All public programs need to be registered with Sahaja Yoga to be covered for public liability insurance.

To apply go to;

https://www.yogis.com.au/public-liability-insurance/

FAQ's

We often get asked questions about the Creation of LETA and LEPA, what the LETA/LEPA Trustee-Directors roles are, why do we have lots of Policies, who looks after our Finances, who owns our properties etc?  To answer these and other inquiries, we have created a specific section of 'Frequently Asked Questions' on the last page.

If you have any other questions please let us know at: life.eternal.trust.australia@gmail.com

Mother's Love

A very big thank you to all those generous Yogis who supported HH Shri Mataji's Mother's Love Childcare during their recent (and ongoing) fundraising activities.  The Centre, like so many other services, found it difficult to remain viable during the extended Covid 19 period and the support they are receiving from the Sahaja community is most appreciated.

We remind Sahaja parents of young children that Her Holiness specifically created Mother's Love to provide a dharmic, vibration sensitive, loving environment for Her young children based on Sahaja principles with Her attention on the centre and all the children attending.  Please consider the benefits of your children being in such an auspicious vibration filled environment.

Required Food Preparation & Handling Courses & updates

As we are emerging from Covid 19 restrictions we will be getting together more often and providing food to Yogis.   Health Regulations require all Sahaja Yogis to regularly undertake a Food Preparation and Handling Course. This is also a requirement of our insurers.   To make this process easy we have created an 'on-line' questionnaire which includes a video to provide required information for all Sahaja Yogis in any way involved with preparing or serving food.

As the course is required to be conducted on a regular basis we ask those who have previously done the course to complete it again so our records are up to date.

Please use this link to the on-line questionnaire which includes answers for verification.

WWCC

Now that we are again getting together for Pujas and other events it's imperative that we all ensure our WWCC (Working With Children Check) clearance - or equivalent, is current and up to date.

LETA’s Current, Completed &

Upcoming Projects & Achievements

SM in gold circle .png
LETA CIRCLE copy.png

Essentially, Mother does it all.

The following are some of the ways She uses the Trustee-Directors, builders and volunteers as Her instruments.

TRUSTEES SAVED COLLECTIVE $170,000 ON STAMP DUTY

Pursuing an extensive, complicated application process to government departments the LETA Trustee-Directors were granted dispensation on Stamp Duty on the transfer of two properties resulting in a saving to the Collective of $170,000.

2012: TRUSTEES RECEIVE ACNC STATUS FOR SAHAJA YOGA

Following a comprehensive process to arrange our legal and other structures to comply with requirements, the LETA Trustees lodged a successful application with the ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) for Sahaja Yoga Meditation Australia / Life Eternal Trust Australia to receive ‘Registered Charity’ status which provides extensive Tax and other benefits.

The Trustees are constantly looking for ways to improve our financial, properties and facilities aspects for the Collective.

2018: BALMORAL SOLAR SYSTEM GREAT FOR SAVINGS AND THE PLANET

The Trustee-Directors in close consultation with the NSW Collective installed 10kW of solar panels and 40kW/h battery storage arrangement at the Balmoral property.

In the first 3.5 years the solar and battery arrangement have reduced the properties electricity costs by over $9000. At this rate, the instalment will cover its own costs within another 12.5 years and with growing electricity costs the rate of savings is due to be faster. In the first 3.5 years, the arrangement has generated 50,600kW/h of electricity which is equivalent to 35.9 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide not being emitted into the atmosphere (ether) by coal powerplant electricity generation.

We hope to increase the quantity of panels in the near future to make the most of the arrangement and balance the properties consumption better, based on the properties heavy intermittent use and use even less coal generated electricity.

2018: BALMORAL WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

As the first step toward the planned development for Balmoral the wastewater management system was upgraded from a small domestic treatment system suitable for 23 people to a commercial system large enough to service our growing collectives needs as well as the occasional several week long international event.

The new wastewater management system treats the effluent to a level which exceeds the local government and EPA requirements and thus provides minimal impact to the environment. A wastewater management system manual has been created for clear explanation of operation, design, troubleshooting, fault reporting and repair procedures as a requirement of the local council.

The upgrade required a special development application, certification and operation permission. Ongoing and regular checking and laboratory testing is an ongoing requirement of the Directors which gets reported to the local Council.

2020: SUCCESSFUL INSURANCE CLAIM COVERS REMEDIATION OF PROPERTY AT BALMORAL

Following the devastating 2019/2020 bushfires which cause extensive damage to the properties infrastructure, the Trustee-Directors applied for and received insurance funds which covered the costs of property clean up and remediation of the properties fences, water tanks, Mothers cottage, irrigation system, property lighting and allowed the addition of new landscaped areas and an upgraded electrical supply to 3-phase.

Thanks to the volunteers and the team of dedicated Sahaja Yoga builders who put their love and effort into the project and made its completion possible.

2020: $50,000 GRANT FROM COMMONWEALTH BANK

The LETA Directors applied for and received $50,000 from the Commonwealth Bank relating to the 2019/2020 bushfires. The funds were used to purchase a new tractor and chainsaw for the property as well as contribute towards the construction of an industrial size shed.

2020: $50,000 GRANT FROM GOVERNMENT

The LETA Directors applied for and received $50,000 from the Australian Government relating to the 2019/2020 bushfires. The funds were used to construct an industrial sized shed to house and protect the properties machinery, equipment and materials.

2022 (WORKS IN PROGRESS): SUCCESSFUL INSURANCE CLAIM COVERS REPAIRS AT BURWOOD

Following unexpected stormwater damage at Shri Mataji’s Burwood home, the Trustee-Directors applied for and received insurance funds which are being used to carry out remediation and preventative upgrades to the stormwater drainage on the property. Thanks to the volunteers and the team of dedicated Sahaja Yoga builders who are putting their love into the project.

IN PROCESS: PROPERTY OPERATION MANUALS FOR ALL SAHAJA YOGA PROPERTIES

Property operation manuals are being created as each property has its own unique set up and operation. In order for yogi’s easy reference to stay on top of general maintenance, major repairs and associated contacts/tradesmen, stocking of necessary items, safety inspections and compliance, fire safety management, cleanliness, amenities operation, troubleshooting, desired upgrades and more.

IN PROCESS: BURWOOD REZONING

The Trustee-Directors have submitted and are continually pursuing Development Plans and an Applications for rezoning No 10 Clarence Street, Burwood with the local Council to again allow Collective Programs and events at Shri Mataji’s Burwood home.

The Trustee Directors continually encourage all Sahaja Yogis to respect the current Councils regulations regarding the property and be patient to ensure a smooth transition to rezoning.

IN PROCESS: ASSISTING IN THE SEARCH FOR AN ADELAIDE CENTRE

The Adelaide Collective continue to investigate potential properties to establish their State Centre and Life Eternal Properties Australia (LEPA) as the sole corporate Trustee within LETA has been assisting with Legal, Financial, Planning, property locating and suitability and other advice on all occasions.

UPCOMING: METHODS OF REDUCING OUR GREENHOUSE EMISSIONS

The Trustee-Directors believe in reducing our ‘carbon footprint’ effect on Mother Earth and doing our part for the benevolence of Sahaja Yogis in the future and thus will be looking into methods to achieve this on all properties like renewable energy, improved recycling and waste reduction.

ONGOING: SUPPORT TO MOTHERS LOVE CHILDCARE

Mother Love being founded by Shri Mataji is part of Her vision and legacy and in turn the Trustee-Directors endeavour to support Mothers Love Childcare in any way that is needed. Preserving Mother’s endeavours are all Sahaja Yogis responsibilities.

ONGOING: CONSTANT CHECKING TO ENSURE LEGAL COMPLIANCE

With legislation constantly changing the Trustees regularly check to ensure our comprehensive required Policies and Guidelines are compliant, and seek expert legal advice where required to keep our policies updated. We strongly recommend Sahaja Yogis take the time to read our policies. (Link to Policies page)

COMMITMENT TO PRESERVING SHRI MATAJI'S ADVICE AND GUIDANCE

As the authority appointed by Her Holiness the Trustees are committed to fulfilling their promise to Her that they will record, preserve, and maintain Her advice and instructions for conducting Sahaja Yoga into the future, and resist attempts to change the essence of Her Divine guidance.

Examples include Her advice about the established transparent 2 stage vibration selection of Councillors /Coordinators, Marriages, the Protection of Children, Dharma in all areas of Sahaja Yoga, and full adherence to all government and legislative requirements.

Representatives and all Sahaja Yogis are expected to honour and respect HH Shri Mataji's instructions and Will and strongly defend Her guidance and any attempts to disregard or dishonour Her advice.
